Our goal is to promote effective school governance and leadership. We support the training of Head teachers and School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) and developed a good governance manual on school planning and management, parental engagement and mobilising resources for their schools. We support the State Government of Uttar Pradesh to strengthen school governance in more than 1,500 secondary schools in all 75 districts of the State for more than 23,000 SMDC members through the government’s SUGAM (meaning to facilitate) programme.
Community participation is a key factor in raising education standards. SMDCs engage with parents to promote regular attendance at school and participation in extra curricular activities such as after school clubs and extra tuition. We encourage parents to develop a supportive home learning environment and promote reading at home.
Each year we give Excellence Awards to the best performing schools, teachers and students in Sambalpur and Hardoi.
