Our goal is for all young people to achieve their full potential. We raise young people’s aspirations to complete their education and secure employment. Our work with young people includes scholarships for motivated students from disadvantaged backgrounds, preparing students for secondary education, improving the quality of teaching and developing interactive educational resources.

The Kusuma Excellence Fellowship offers 200 new scholarships each year to students from disadvantaged backgrounds in Sambalpur and Hardoi to complete secondary school and pursue higher education. The Fellowship includes a stipend, mentoring, English and computer training, life skills development and career guidance. Each Fellow is supported to develop an individual plan of action that includes academic and personal development goals.

Many students are not adequately prepared for secondary school and have not achieved the required learning levels. Our Secondary School Readiness Programme delivers accelerated learning to students in Classes 9 and 10 to address their learning gaps in Mathematics, English, Science, Hindi, Odia and Social Sciences. The programme includes a study camp at the start and at the end of the academic year, a period of self-learning and additional classes during the school term. Teachers deliver tailored classroom sessions based on each student’s individual learning level. Students are assessed at the beginning and end of each year to determine their progress.

We support this programme intensively in 50 schools and also support the Uttar Pradesh and Odisha State governments to introduce the programme to 250 additional schools reaching over 40,000 students.
