In November 2018 we gave a grant of £20,000 to the Kensington & Chelsea Foundation to enable them to support multiple green space projects. Through this grant they have been able to improve the green environment in the borough and help create a better atmosphere for the local community.

So far the Kensington & Chelsea Foundation has passed on funding worth £15,500 to four organisations who focus on connecting communities with green spaces:

  • St Mary Abbot’s Rehabilitation and Training a mental health charity who used the funding to engage local residents in clearing and re-planting an overgrown and disused sunken garden
  • P.I.D Theatre Company an organisation using the fund to provide a year’s worth of free weekly gardening sessions to residents of Kensal House Estate
  • Full of Life who focus on families with special education needs members are using their grant to expand their gardening activities to develop a cut flower, individual plant and bee-keeping project
  • Clement James Centre a local charity is using the funding to develop its Community Gardening Project and provide local people with workshops and activities to educate them in basic gardening skills

All four projects aim to impact physical and mental wellbeing and bring communities closer together through the provision of communal green spaces. We are excited to work with in partnership with more organisations with the remaining funds, and witness the impact these projects have on the communities of Kensington & Chelsea.
