LAST MILE CARDIAC EQUIPMENT GRANTS FOR HOSPITALS
This call for proposals is to provide grants of up to £250,000 to NHS charities supporting hospitals with in-patient facilities who provide tertiary cardiac services within the M25. The potential grants are for the last portion of funding towards cardiac medical equipment. The minimum grant request we will consider is £50,000 (exclusions apply see Eligibility Criteria).
ELIGIBILITY AND EXCLUSION CRITERIA
Eligibility Criteria
You must:
- Be an NHS hospital charity linked to a hospital with in-patient facilities which provide tertiary cardiac services
- Plan to use the funding for cardiac medical equipment that will diagnose, treat, and/or conduct research on cardiac disorders, with a confirmed start date for the project
- Ensure that any proposed cardiac medical equipment is used at an NHS hospital within the M25
- Have a minimum of 60% of the required funding in place already (this can be in the form of a pledge and evidence will need to be provided) with up to £250,000 remaining. Priority will be given to applicants with a larger percentage of funding already secured
- Have already been through a procurement/tendering process for the project that is compliant with public sector procurement regulations
- Ensure that the funding request does not exceed 20% of the organisation’s budget
- Hold a valid UK registered bank account in the name of the organisation
- Have governance and financial management systems appropriate to your overall work and the proposed programme
- Use the funds within a year of receipt
- Have a safeguarding policy in place, and if you do not, confirm if you adhere to the trust’s safeguarding policy
- Have planning permission and RIBA stage 3 in place for the adaptation/ construction of the space intended to house the equipment, to enable installation, if required.
Exclusion Criteria
- We will not fund projects that have already been completed.
Please note that we can only consider one application per hospital. Current grantholders or anyone who has had an application declined in the last 12 months, please speak to us before applying.
PROCESS & ASSESSMENT
The application process involves completing a concept note and providing a budget for the associated equipment costs and plans/designs (where relevant). The application will be assessed against the following criteria:
- There is a need for the equipment you are proposing
- The equipment will positively impact patients and make a measurable difference to them
- You have the experience and capacity to install and use the equipment effectively, and provide appropriate training for staff
- The running costs of the equipment is able to be supported by the hospital, and the equipment provides value for money
- The use of the equipment will be monitored and evaluated effectively
- The equipment offers reasonable cost per beneficiary
Application deadline: 31 October 2025. Should we receive an overwhelming number of submissions, we may decide to close the application period earlier than anticipated. However, we will ensure a minimum of three weeks’ notice is provided on this page.
Applications will be evaluated on their own merit and also in relation to other applications. Please note that applications will not be reviewed on a rolling basis.
If your application goes through to the next stage of our process, due diligence will be carried out by the Trust, in part including a due diligence meeting. We will also require evidence of the other funding you have received. If successful you will be required to provide an end of grant report as a minimum. This will include information about the project, evidence of project completion and expenses incurred, as well as proof of transfer of funds to the hospital. Supplier invoices may also be required depending on the programme
Decisions on your application will be made by Friday, 9th February 2026.
