We are delighted to learn that Fern the Diplodocus is a winner in the Institute of Structural Engineers’ Structural Awards 2025. Fern was created as part of Natural History Museum’s Urban Nature project with the support of our grant of £1.5m.

The winners of these awards represent some of the world’s most impressive structural engineering achievements, showcasing sustainable structural solutions, innovation, ingenuity, positive social impact, and a commitment to pushing the profession forward.

The judges said that Fern was “A technically challenging and beautifully executed project that demonstrates the versatility of structural engineering. The team resolved complex post-tensioning and geometric challenges with care and intelligence, creating a form that engages the public and reinforces the profession’s role in shaping imaginative, visible work.”
