We are delighted to share an update from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Last summer, we awarded a multi‑year grant to help protect and conserve rare bumblebees in the East End of London — and the progress so far is impressive!

Here are just a few of the highlights:
* 33 community activities delivered, engaging 770 people in hands‑on conservation and awareness.
* 4 flagship habitat sites created and 7 community hubs established to improve habitat for bumblebees
* Rare species recorded, including the Brown‑banded carder bee and the Shrill carder bee
* Long‑term monitoring underway, with 5 BeeWalk transects now established to track population trends.
* 4 volunteers recruited and trained who will monitor and record bumblebees. Data will be recorded on the national bumblebee monitoring scheme.
* 7 Bumblebee champions recruited & trained, strengthening local capacity for advocacy and ongoing conservation work.

This momentum is laying the groundwork for lasting impact, and it’s exciting to see such strong community involvement alongside meaningful conservation gains.
