In 2023 have provided almost £40,000 to support local people in Gibraltar to continue their education and professional development.

Each year we provide Excellence Prizes to students who perform exceptionally well at A’ Level or undergraduate level and have obtained a place at a leading university. The prize is an incentive for high achieving students to pursue their chosen subject and have the best possible opportunities to study at the highest-ranked universities. This year six Excellence Prizes have been awarded to high-achieving local students. Each student will receive £3,000 to support their studies at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities.

Dylan Risso will read Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Oxford, Lizhe Zhang Zhuo will take up a place at University College London to read Architecture, Morgane Jacobs and Emma Rocca will read medicine at the University of Exeter and Liverpool respectively, while Aman Shivdasani will read International Management and Esther Tricker will read Electric and Electronic Engineering University, both at the University of Bath.

In addition, 7 Professional Development Awards totalling £21,000 will support individuals working in Gibraltar to undertake professional development courses that will have a direct benefit to the community.

Sufian Arrais, Amy Martinez, Jeremy Victor, Katrina Celecia, Dr Lorena Soler Casale, Dr Kamil Baczynski, and Joanne Barabich all received awards which will support them to gain skills and qualifications in a range of areas including biomedical science, therapeutic counselling, medicine, mental health nursing, paediatric and general sports medicine, and psychology.
