City Harvest London rescues quality, surplus food which would otherwise go to landfill and delivers it to organisations supporting people who face food poverty. In early 2020, we made two grants to City Harvest—one to support one of their fleet of vans to operate in Kensington & Chelsea for a year; and another unrestricted grant to support their response to Covid-19. And their response has been significant.

In the last 12 months in Kensington and Chelsea alone, their van delivered 502 tons of food to 55 charities. By diverting this food from landfill, City Harvest prevented the emission of 163 tons of greenhouse gasses. Across all of London, City Harvest more than doubled its annual target for deliveries, getting 3,831 tons of food – or 8.7 million meals – to 340 charities. In recognition of their efforts, Laura Winningham, the co-founder of City Harvest in London, was given an OBE in the New Years’ Honours List.

We are very proud to have played a small part in supporting their amazing achievements and wish City Harvest all the best as they continue to support those who need it most.
