We are proud to award a grant to Croydon Health Services Charitable Fund of £41,000 towards a children’s play area for Croydon University’s Hospital (artist impression of art of the play area above). Rainbow Children’s Unit cares for up to 40 children and young people aged 1-17 each day, meaning the play facilities could positively impact up to 14,600 patients every year.

Having access to play equipment is vital for reducing acute anxiety, stress and fears in young patients, especially those who are often physically or socially isolated due to their illness. The play area will also be open to the patients’ siblings to enable a continuation of normalcy throughout difficult periods and be used by therapists to host sessions for patients away from the clinical environment.

We look forward to hearing how the play facilities will provide much improved holistic care and bring families and carers together in a safe and supportive environment.
