July saw Fern the diplodocus at the Natural History Museum turn 1!  With the support of our grant of £1.5m, in July 2024 Fern was installed within the Jurassic Gardens, amongst the wider five acres of landscaped space at the Museum. This space has been transformed to offer an immersive experience blending nature, learning and scientific research.

Over the last year Fern, a 21 metre long, bronze life-sized cast of the dinosaur, has become an iconic site greeting visitors as they arrive at the Museum. Since the new gardens opened, they have welcomed over five million visitors, a 20.9% increase. Research has shown that visitors have been overwhelmingly impressed with the new gardens.
