We supported a curriculum-enriching geography field trip to Iceland for secondary school students from Bayside School in Gibraltar. Over 5 days, 30 students deepened their understanding of key geographical concepts through first-hand experience of landforms such as glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, and tectonic boundaries. The visit provided opportunities for students to apply classroom learning in real-world contexts and broaden their cultural awareness through exposure to Icelandic society, history, and environmental practices.

Students worked hard to raise funds for the trip and our grant of £10,000 ensured that all students could participate regardless of their financial background.

Louise Garcia, Head of Geography at Bayside School commented: “The project has been a major success in terms of educational impact, student development, and enrichment of classroom learning. The support provided through Kusuma’s funding was vital in making this opportunity accessible and meaningful for all involved. Some students expressed increased interest in geography related careers and environmental sustainability.
