We have awarded a grant of £80,000 to the Museum of London for their ‘My Story’ pilot project collecting children’s oral histories.

The project will work with 10 London secondary schools as part of their pandemic recovery work.  At least 2,000 Year 8 pupils will get the chance to participate in the programme that includes assemblies, object-based workshops on the theme of ‘Being a Londoner’ and a visit to the Museum of London Docklands which will include working with a curator, and exploring identity and children’s experiences. The Museum of London will video stories from participating schools and associated objects/creative work that reflect the diversity of the schools’ communities.

We are really excited to support such a seminal piece of work that will see the first oral histories from children added to the museum’s collection.
