We recently partnered with The British Library to support their Paddington Family Day with a grant of just over £5,000. The inclusive event, inspired by the current ‘Paddington: The Story of the Bear’ exhibition, features a programme of creative activities and sensory story telling including British Sign Language interpretations.

With our support, 200 attendees, including 100 from selected local community groups, were able to participate in the family day on Saturday 25 September. The event gave visitors the chance to explore themes of home, belonging, kindness and adventure through a visit to the exhibition, art, and illustration workshops. There was also an outside trail, a sensory space for under 5s, a pop-up reading area and a chance to relax with a screening of the Adventure of Paddington TV series.

Our Executive Trustee, Dr Soma Pujari, who attended the event with her daughter said: The Paddington Family Day was a well thought out and engaging event for young families. The effort put in to inclusion was evident during my visit, and appreciated by families with hearing impaired members.
