We are delighted to announce a new partnership with the Science Museum, with a grant of over £40,000 supporting the expansion of the Technicians: Meet the Employee programme. The programme is aimed at encouraging young people to explore  technical careers in STEM, and highlights the vital role technicians play in society. As part of the programme, young people meet a technician and experience what it’s like to do their job through hands-on activities and a Q&A session. The young people will carry out job-related tasks led by a real-life technician, helping showcase the skills technicians use in their day-to-day work.

The live programming takes place within Technicians: The David Sainsbury Gallery, a unique interactive gallery for 11–16-year-olds which celebrates the role of technicians. The free gallery at the Science Museum brings the overlooked but crucial world of technicians to life, with visitors invited to hear inspirational stories and explore a variety of one-of-a-kind interactive exhibits. Visitors can step into Shuri’s Lab, a film set recreated from Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, to learn how technicians create blockbuster movies; try their hand at creating lifesaving drugs as a pharmacy technician; pilot a remotely operated vehicle on the ocean floor; or even control a robotic arm to discover the role of advanced manufacturing technicians.

We are delighted to support the Science Museum to inspire the next generation of technicians!
