We are supporting English Heritage with a grant of £1m for the reconstruction of a traditional Neolithic building to serve as a classroom at Stonehenge. The new building will allow up to 30 students at a time to learn in an immersive environment through engagement with the space, maps, artefacts and drawings. Alongside a new STEM discovery lab now under construction, the neolithic classroom will triple the education capacity at Stonehenge.
The neolithic building will be constructed with the help of a cadre of volunteers and will use authentic building techniques, and will be the first modern reconstruction of a building of this kind in the UK.
We are excited for this unique educational building to take shape.
