Trees for Cities, has made excellent progress with their London Healthy Playgrounds programme. The work, completing this year, is transforming the playgrounds of 10 London schools from grey to green. Through a co-design approach, pupils and the school community, work to combine the new leafy green spaces with functional outdoor classrooms and natural play features.

Trees for Cities guide schools through the integration of nature-based education with their school curriculum, delivering on the ground training, practical workshops, developing bespoke curriculum-based resources and supporting on sustainability planning. Children are learning, relaxing and engaging with new ways of thinking… and eating! One teacher reported “I think I’ve converted a whole cohort to Swiss chard.”

We look forward to seeing these playgrounds blossom and grow and help transform the way the students learn. More info about this programme can be found here.
