We are pleased to award Trees for Cities a £200,000 grant for their project London Healthy Playgrounds. This three year project will transform ten London school playgrounds into leafy green oases.

Trees for Cities will use a holistic approach to playground design for urban schools that promotes environmentally sustainable behaviour, supports health, wellbeing and lifelong connections with trees and nature, and improves educational experiences. This will include Planting Healthy Air projects, which focus on air quality outcomes, and Edible Playgrounds projects, which focus on healthy eating and outdoor education outcomes.

Up to 4,000 pupils and 200 teachers will engage with, and benefit from the playgrounds through a process of co-design, delivery and building teacher capacity to teach outdoors. We look forward to working alongside Trees for Cities once again and seeing the results of this exciting project!
