Year 13 students in Gibraltar have participated in the Kusuma University Talks, a two-day event offering practical advice and guidance on the university application process.
Jane Marshall from Optimising Futures shared valuable tips on writing effective personal statements and preparing for university interviews. Students also took part in group sessions tailored to a range of subject areas, including STEM, nursing, teaching and physiotherapy. Students applying to universities with early entry or interview requirements, including Oxford and Cambridge, as well as those applying for competitive courses such as medicine and dentistry, were offered the opportunity to take part in one-to-one sessions for more personalised guidance. Year 12 students considering applying to Oxbridge or studying medicine also attended sessions designed to help them understand the application process and identify ways they can best prepare for their applications next year.
Jane Marshall commented; “’I thoroughly enjoyed a very busy two days, packed with Personal Statement review appointments for students applying to the most competitive universities and courses in the UK. Having worked with the sixth form students every year both in Y12 and Y13, I can certainly see how the quality of their statements has improved which is testament to the hard work we all put in – this includes their excellent teachers and the students themselves. I sincerely wish them all the best with their applications and interviews. As ever, my very grateful thanks to Kusuma Trust Gibraltar for sponsoring this extremely worthwhile programme.
