The ‘Waste Age’ exhibition at the Design Museum that we are supporting opened on 21st October. Curated by Gemma Curtin, the exhibition is a thought-provoking exploration of how designers are redefining fashion, construction, food, electronics, packaging and more, by creating design out of waste and moving towards a more circular economy.

Our Executive Trustee, Dr Soma Pujari, was particularly impressed by the conscious thinking behind choosing the materials used for the exhibition itself – using untreated and sustainably sourced wood, printing signage and wall text directly onto the walls using hand-held inkjet printers instead of vinyl stickering, and developing bricks which do not need to be re-fired, reducing carbon emissions.

We are looking forward to seeing the successful implementation of The Family Trail, supported by our £8,000 small grant, which will guide young people and their families around the exhibition, focusing on tactile and immersive elements of the show to create a fun, positive and exploratory journey towards a zero-waste future.

The Waste Age exhibition is running until 20 February 2022.
