Gibraltar Broadcasting Company’s fundraising extravaganza

From bingo to beard shaves, classic car rides to a Christmas carol contest, it all happens at the GBC Open Day, Gibraltar’s biggest fundraising event.

Every year, the community comes together to raise money for local charities at the day-long roadshow and TV telethon. One of the most important dates in the community calendar, the GBC Open Dayusually takes place a week before Christmas Day.

Between 2008 and 2010, Kusuma Trust Gibraltar made a yearly donation to the GBC Open Day totalling £40,000.

In recent years, the Open Day has funded projects including a new dining room for the Gibraltar Alzheimer and Dementia Support Group and support services at Cancer Relief Gibraltar’s day centre. It also supports charities working overseas, such as education and health charity Clinic Nepal.

GBC is a public-funded corporation, providing television, radio and online services in Gibraltar Their Open Day has raised well over £2million for local charities since it started in the 1960s.
