In November, the SCONUL Library Design Awards returned having had a break since 2018. We were very proud to see that The Kusuma Gallery in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s (V&A) Photography Centre was recognised as ‘highly commended.’ The Awards celebrate the best in recent UK and Ireland academic library design. Judges at the awards commented that “the V&A’s approach was innovative, with space that was well-integrated with the museum, linking back to exhibitions and events.”

The Kusuma Gallery  is an impressive space at the heart of the V&A’s Photography Centre project which we are proud to have supported with a grant of £2m. It has 20,000 books from the library of the Royal Photographic Society, together with a vast array of books with a connection to photography. You can find out more about the Kusuma Gallery here
