We have given £16,250 to fund a summer holiday project with the British Library, to produce and distribute a free, creative activity booklet for 5,000 disadvantaged children in London and across the UK. The project is intended to address the digital divide and emerging attainment gap caused by the Covid-19 crisis, encouraging the recipients to learn outside of school.

The booklets will include a new set of creative and fun activities specially designed to be accessed and navigated independently by children aged 5-11 years old, including those with a wide range of access needs including English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs. Children will be encouraged to engage in such activities as dress up, family charades and creating a nonsense poem, helping to spark their imagination, stimulate curiosity, immerse themselves in a new experience and use language in a dynamic, sometimes stylistic and entertaining way as well engage in fun and play.

The booklets will also come with colouring pencils, card, scissors and glue to ensure recipients can get the most out of the packs regardless of their families’ financial situation.
