LAST MILE GRANTS FOR HOSPITALS

This call for proposals is to provide grants of up to £150,000 to London-based NHS hospital charities supporting hospitals with in-patient facilities looking for the last portion of funding towards medical equipment, to upgrade or expand the facility (for example, in order to increase capacity for patients) or capital projects. The minimum grant request we will consider is £10,000 (exclusions apply see Eligibility Criteria).


ELIGIBILITY AND EXCLUSION CRITERIA

Eligibility Criteria
You must:
~ Be an NHS hospital charity linked to a hospital with in-patient facilities
~ Be based in Greater London
~ Use the funding towards specific capital expenses, medical equipment or to upgrade the facility with a pre-defined completion date
~ Have a minimum of 60% of the required funding in place already (this can be in the form of a pledge and evidence will need to be provided) with up to £150,000 remaining. Priority will be given to applicants with a larger percentage of funding already secured
~ Have already been through a procurement/tendering process for the project that is compliant with public sector procurement regulations
~ The funding request must not exceed 20% of an organisations budget
~ Hold a valid UK registered bank account in the name of the organisation
~ Have governance and financial management systems appropriate to your overall work and the proposed programme
~ Funds must be used within a year of receipt
~ Have a safeguarding policy in place, and if you do not, confirm if you adhere to the hospital’s safeguarding policy

Exclusion Criteria
~ We will not fund projects that have already been completed.

Please note that we can only consider one application per organisation. Current grantholders or anyone who has had an application declined in the last 12 months, please speak to us before applying.

 

PROCESS & ASSESSMENT

The application process involves completing a concept note and providing a budget for the associated project costs and plans/designs (where relevant).. The application will be assessed against the following criteria:
~ There is a need for the project you are proposing
~ The project will positively impact patients and make a measurable difference to them
~ You have the experience and capacity to implement capital grants effectively
~ The project is sustainable and provides value for money
~ The project will be monitored and evaluated effectively
~ The project offers reasonable cost per beneficiary (and benefits no less than 100 people over the course of a year)

If your application goes through to the next stage of our process, due diligence will be carried out by the Trust, in part including a meeting. We will also require evidence of the other funding you have received. If successful you  will be required to provide an end of grant report with evidence of project completion and expenses incurred, as well as proof of transfer of funds to the hospital. Supplier invoices may also be required depending on the programme.

Please note that applications for the last mile open call are being assessed on a rolling basis and will aim to let you know if your application has been successful within three weeks of receipt, however, during July and August it is likely to take us longer.  If we move to close the call we will provide three weeks notice on this page.
