In 2021 we gave £25,000 to Construction Youth Trust to support their “Building Futures” project aiming to engage with students in London about careers in the construction industry.

We are delighted that to date, Construction Youth have engaged with approximately 4,500 students, including 1,122 directly funded by us in Kensington and Chelsea, organised 3,077 employee encounters, and gave targeted support to 101 students who were deemed at risk of becoming “NEET” (not in education, employment or training). As an additional bonus they organised 11 work experience placements ranging from Civil Engineering to Planning and Quantity Surveying.

As a result of their project…
* 70% of young people reported improvements in indicators relating to their self-confidence
* There was a 33% increase in young people interested in securing an apprenticeship
* 81% of young people reported that the programme helped them to develop the skills that employers are looking for
* 81% of young people reported that the programme helped them to understand how to get the qualifications or training they need to get the job/career they want

We are so thrilled to hear what brilliant progress the students have made with Construction Youth. More details about the grant can be found here.
