We recently granted £23,000 to Horatio’s Garden toward the running and upkeep of their new garden at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. The Hospital is home to the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre and is the 5th UK spinal injury centre in the past 9 years to open one of ‘Horatio’s Gardens.’

The garden at Stanmore was designed by Tom Stuart-Smith in close collaboration with the spinal unit team as well as current and former patients. It serves the centre’s 40 patients and their families. The garden is completely accessible and the design includes ‘garden rooms’ designed by Stephen Marshall where patients can enjoy being outside whatever the weather.

We hope the gardens will be a respite for patients and staff at Stanmore after such a challenging year.
