We have once again made a grant of £1,000 to local charity and support group ‘Knit Gibraltar’. The group meets once a week to knit and crochet various items for charitable causes. Last year, members produced 400 items in addition to the poppies and these went to 15 local charities and the Gibraltar Elderly Residential Services (ERS).

This year, the group have been producing hat and scarf sets for the homeless who are supported by the Methodist Church, beanies for the Seamen’s Mission as well as shawls and lap blankets for ERS as the residents donated their own lap blankets to the appeal for Ukraine.  Additionally, various other items have been made, such as babies and children’s items, socks, twiddlemuffs (for people with dementia) and stuffed toys.

June Santos-Hailami said: “Thanks to our supporters at Kusuma Trust who provide funding towards purchasing yarn, we are able to produce numerous handmade items in support of charitable causes and community projects.”
