On 1 May 2019, our Indian partner, People for Action launched Nikhaar (meaning enhanced) with the Chhattisgarh Government. This programme aims to bridge learning gaps for students in classes 8-9 and develop the capacities of teachers to improve student learning outcomes.

A group of Head teachers and trainers from the education department were trained on delivering the programme, which will work across 10 districts. It aims to reach 350,158 students and 28,000 teachers from 7,223 schools and by 2020 this programme will be expanded to reach the whole State. The Chief Secretary and Secretary Education of Chhattisgarh, Gaurav Dwivedi, IAS was also present at the training.
