We have granted £10,000 to Phoenix Garden to support up to 100 visitors to complete classes in horticulture and wildlife; try painting, yoga, and flower arranging; and to volunteer at the garden when lockdown restrictions ease.

Phoenix Garden is a community garden and wildlife oasis with a unique sub-tropical plant collection in the heart of London’s west end. Situated on a bomb-site from the second World War and revived as a green space in 1984, Phoenix Garden is now the last of seven community gardens still operating in the Covent Garden area. Committed to improving the quality of life for residents and visitors to the area, Phoenix Garden hosts community events in a newly designed hall and coordinates volunteers to maintain the winding paths and beds of this distinctive urban garden.

At a time when Londoners are finding a renewed appreciation for green urban spaces, we are excited to see the Phoenix Garden spring to life this spring-time.
