We have granted £25,000 to Walworth Gardens to train 15 Londoners for a diploma in horticulture. The training will run over a full year and trainees who complete the course will leave with a City & Guilds Level 2 accreditation in Horticulture as well as front-line experience landscaping or working in a plant nursery.

Walworth Gardens, formerly the Walworth City Farm, was founded in the 1980s on a disused plot following the principles of permaculture. Today, it is home to 250 plant species, an apiary, and a plant centre (more on the history of Walworth Garden here). The team of gardeners has a wealth of experience working with the community as well as running supported training training programmes.

We are pleased to be working with the Walworth Gardens and we’re excited to see how the trainees grow through the course.
