MBS Wellbeing

Developing skills for wellbeing

Compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, patience and trust. These are just some of the traits being taught to children in Gibraltar as part of the MBS Wellbeing After School Program.

The series of wellbeing workshops aims to provide 5 to 15 year olds with the tools they need to process and manage difficult emotions, improve their self-esteem and confidence, and achieve a positive mindset. Our grant of £25,000 will help fund the work.

  • The MBS Wellbeing After School Program currently delivers 25 weekly after school sessions across 10 schools in Gibraltar.
  • The charity helped sponsor 28 children whose families could not afford the cost and provided 5 learning support assistants to support children with learning difficulties.
  • In 2021/22, MBS delivered 725 sessions across 10 schools, helping the wellbeing of over 500 school children in Gibraltar.

Making a bigger difference

MBS Wellbeing’s 36 professional practitioners specialise in a wide range of techniques, including play therapy, acupressure, yoga, and creative expression through art, dance and music.

They also offer ‘behavioural empowerment’ and ‘bully-proof’ sessions which teach safe and simple self-defence techniques to use in an emergency, and focus on building self-esteem and self-respect. The organisation’s qualified counsellor is there to support children with the most urgent needs.

“This grant will help empower and educate children in respect to their wellbeing, as well as supporting some of the most vulnerable groups of children in Gibraltar. We believe passionately that it is every child’s right to be educated and nurtured in respect to their wellbeing regardless of their financial status. Thank you to Kusuma Trust for your generosity in helping us make this difference; we are excited to be on this journey with you.”
