We are pleased to be partnering with The Brilliant Club to support their new strategy and the growth of their Scholars Programme in South London. The Brilliant club have worked with over 90,000 young people in the last decade, and funding will allow them to scale up the scholars programme to reach 100,000 students in the next 5 years. After seeing the positive impact of the Scholars programme through previous grants, this is our third time supporting this initiative.

The Scholars Programme is a term of university-style teaching and learning for secondary school pupils from under-represented backgrounds with the aim of helping them progress to to highly-selective universities. Participants experience a trip to university campus, questions and answer sessions with higher eduction staff and students, and university style tutorials, and then use the skills and knowledge they have gained to complete a marked assignment. At the end of the experience participants can attend a graduation-style ceremony.

Disadvantaged young people 18 times more likely to miss out on uni than their peers. By taking part n this programme, students develop academic skills such as written communication and critical thinking, knowledge of what university is like, and confidence that they can access competitive universities. We are delighted to partner with The Brilliant Club once again and look forward to hearing about the impact this programme has. More information about the programme and our previous funding can be found here.
